Tonights events brought racing to an end for 2011, and what a way to end a very up and down year!
The year started slowly with the club struggling a little bit for numbers which most weeks meant us waiting around in the carpark hoping enough people would turn up to make setting up worth while. Thankfully numbers started to pick up with new racers coming along, people like Andrew, Anthony and Peter coming down from Lincolnshire every Friday night to race with us (a round trip of getting on for 100 miles!). Plus with Richard, George, Mark, Pheobe and most recently Callum all joing us the numbers are much heathier now.
Just as we were getting going in the summer and we started talking about running a championship we had the devestating news about the loss of Colin. A massive shock to us all and a huge loss which did raise a few questions about where the club would go from then on, but everyone stepped up and helped out where they could which has really pushed the club forward.
Plans were then made to go ahead with the club championship, the first for 2 years, and we had a great turn out. 25 drivers took part in total with 15 - 20 turning up each week, a massive improvment from the beginning of the year. After 8 weeks of very close racing Dan Wooster took the overall championship title along with the F1 crown, Dave Irving topped F2 and Lee Henson won in F3.
So the year ended with 2 weeks of open nights with people encouraged to bring along what ever RC cars they had on the shelf collecting dust and give them a run, this resulted in a couple of buggies running, a return of the 'minis' although this time with much more power and even an old pan car that looked like a caterham with a mini stig at the wheel. The real crazyness was saved for this week though! With the suggestion that we try a bit of caravan racing (thanks Paul) it gave people a chance to get creative and come up with some interesting takes on the word 'caravan'! So there were the lazy ones who bought Kamtec models (me), Dave's smallest caravan in the world, Paul's erm..... lunch box thing, Nathan's interesting take on recycling, and there were 2 brilliant creations made by Richard (you have too much time on your hands mate!). This all made for one of the most fun nights of racing I've ever had and I think most people were in agreement.
Then to finish off we interupted the caravan "racing" briefly to have the trophy presentation for the championship, well done to all the trophy winners. The presentation included the unveiling of the Colin Williams Memorial Trophy. The decision to introduce this trophy was made by the club as a way of remembering Colin and everything he did for the club over the years and will be awarded each time we run a championship in the future with the club members deciding on what it should be awarded for each time. The shield itself was chosen by Colin's family who along with Dave and Nicola decided the first recipient would be me (Adam). I'll just take this chance to say a huge thankyou to Tracy and the boys, as well as Dave + Nic (plus anyone else who may have been involed), it was a massive shock and a real honour to be chosen.
Well I better wrap this up as im going on a bit! So we have now finished for this year and we will return to racing on 6th January so make sure you come along and show us all what new bits and bobs that santa has brought you! Keep an eye out here for more updates over the next couple of weeks as theres tons of pictures and videos floating around that hopefully i'll be able to upload at some point. Also keep an eye on Facebook for anything else thats goin on, a possible KMCC invasion of Ardent Raceway next Friday seems to be on the cards.
I have updated the Gallery with some photos from this weeks racing and presentation so go and have a look (no more 5 year old STCC pics, sorry lol). Now that i have figured out how to do the gallery feel free to send any pics or videos you have if you would like to contibute, or anything else for that matter, im open to suggestions for extra content on the site.
Hope you all have a great christmas and see you in the new year!

Just a small update this week, well more of a reminder really. Next friday will be another 'run what you brung' open meeting. Was great to see some different cars running this week, the mini's were great fun with 19 turn motors and it was good to have a couple of buggies going round too. Next week is already looking like it could be interesting thanks to Mr Colemans suggestion, one word....Caravans!!!
Make sure you take a look at the Facebook page to see what everyone is planning on running.
We will also be having the trophy presentation for the championship during the meeting.
Lastly, membership forms for the club and the BRCA will again be available at race control. The cost is £20 for both or £6 for just club membership if you have sorted your own BRCA membership.
See you all on Friday!

Championship Week 8
|
This week's racing was on Track 6, which is also known as "the track with no straight" as Adam felt it would be appropriate to have a challenging layout for the finale. If anything it seemed to help the less experienced members as there was less flat out running from which it is easy to lose control. It still provided some interesting racing with some interesting overtakes (literally "over" takes in some cases) and lapping manoeuvres.
It was good to see 19 drivers turn up for the finale.
Qualifying
Some good runs by F3 drivers saw them get good positions with George Dixon on pole for the D final and Dan Oliver and Mark Offord squeezing into the C file with Ben Johnson on pole. After similar runs in different heats Anthony Adcock and Dave Irving would head up the B final. Jamie Giuver had a couple of great runs to make the A final (no pressure) with John Fillingham's chassis tweaks clearly paying off as he clinched pole from Nathan Maycock in the A, with Dan Wooster in 3rd – his car not looking as planted as usual, possibly due diff problems.
Finals
D Final
Two good runs from George Dixon saw him take two wins with no one able to trouble him. Callum had a great first run to take 2nd for the first time and he asked to keep he result sheet as a memento! In the second final he also had a pit stop to change cells with help from Ben! John Reynolds also took a 2nd and 3rd place and therefore got overall 2nd due to qualifying.
C Final
Ben Johnson was unstoppable in both races and win from pole by 3 laps without any problems. Martin Flower and Lee Henson had two close battles with Martin coming out on top in both. Daniel Oliver wasn't quite quick enough this time but had a couple of good runs and was improving his lines – watch out in 2012!
B Final
After a good start Dave Irving was able to get into the lead early on, followed closely by Anthony Adcock. At 2 minutes the gap was closing and then with Dave heading over the barrier and into the pits the lead was handed to Anthony. Richard Vyse was closing on Dave at the 4-minute mark and then managed to sneak passed and hold that position until the end.
Another storming start from Dave in the 2nd leg saw him get the lead and Anthony fall back. He closed the gap and at the hairpin before the straight tried a slightly less than delicate overtake which was followed by some tit for tat "rubbing" for a few laps with Anthony eventually keeping the lead. At 2 minutes it was very close with 4 cars on the same lap. After a poor start and falling back to 5th at the end of the fist lap Andrew Keen battled his way passed everyone for the win and ultimately putting a lap on the field, followed by Anthony and Richard. Overall, consistency saw Anthony get the win followed by Richard and Andrew.
A Final
John Fillingham and Nathan Maycock were separated by 1 point in the championship for 3rd place (the top places already decided) so with the title of "Sir Thirdalot" up for grabs it was all to play for. It didn't start well with Nathan blowing his motor in the 2nd qualifier so a quick replacement was made.
John flew off the line in the first final followed by Dan Wooster and at 2 minutes it was unchanged with Adam and Jamie fighting over 3rd. At 4 minutes it was still very close and some quick lead changes taking place but with an uncharacteristic mistake Dan let John get away and take the win with Adam getting 3rd.
In the last final of the championship the John, Nathan and Dan set off in start order with Dan unable to get passed Nathan and letting John get away. At 2 minutes Nathan catches a corner to let Dan through and chase John. he closes the gap an some very close racing sees a few lead changes but ultimately John was able to hold on with Dan 2nd and Nathan 3rd. Overall it was John, Dan, Adam.
This weeks Results
Championship Results
Dan Wooster is the overall and F1 champion with Charlie Ware coming second and after a storming run in the last two rounds John Fillingham takes 3rd.
In F2 Dave Irving takes the win with Richard Vyse runner up and Paul Coleman in 3rd.
In F3 Lee Henson takes the win with Daniel Oliver runner up and George Dixon in 3rd
Championship Tables
The Trophy presentation will be during the race night on 16th December.
Thanks to everyone for taking part and making the championship very enjoyable, even for a spectator and commentator, as I have been this time around. After watching over these last 8 weeks I'm tempted to get another set of wheels in the New Year. Anyone know where I can get a thumb transplant?
Cheers, Rob
And Finally...
Just a couple of bits to add, thankyou to Rob and Steve for helping out with the race reports during the series, really helped me out alot.
Now we are in December it is time for Club and BRCA Memberships to be renewed. This year the BRCA membership is £14 and we have decided that the club membership will be £6. Membership forms will be available for both at race control from next week.
For the last couple of weeks on the run up to christmas we are are going to run 'open' meetings, so basically you can bring along what ever electric powered cars you like. Obviously there will still be touring car heats but it would be nice to see some of the mini's make an appearance again, also I know there are a quite a few members with buggies now too so bring them along! Plus any 12th's, micro's, mardaves, F1's, monster trucks, anything will be welcome, so come and show us all what you have got!
See you all next week! Adam

Championship Week 7

Track 11 was used this
week, a fast track generally but with a twisty technical end to the
lap. The entry to the chicane was set up with quite a wide entry this
week which seemed to encourage drivers to 'have a go' and led to plenty
on of bumping and barging, proper touring car racing!!!
Qualifying
A tough couple of heats for some drivers, most notibly Nathan Maycock
who had car problems in both runs and found himself in the unfamiliar
postion of last place in the B final (12th overall) in the end. But
some good runs from other drivers who made the most of Nathan dropping
down the order, Andrew Keen has been ironing out issues on his car for
the last few weeks and getting quicker and quicker ending up quaifying
3rd overall and Dave Irving made it back into the A Final finally after
finding much more speed form his car after gearing it up (alot!).
Finals
C Final
Pole sitter Lee Henson took a comfortable leg 1 win from Dan Oliver but
in leg 2 things were much closer, Lee had a handful of scrappy laps at
around the 4 minute mark just as Dan put together a series of good
consistant laps which saw Dan just pip Lee to the win by 1 second.
George Dixon took two 3rd places with Callum Elmer getting two 4th's.
B Final
A six car final meant a busy track for Nathan to try and navigate
through from the back. Pole man was John Guiver who made a good start
in leg 1 followed away by Adam Burgess and Jamie Guiver while the other
cars held each other up a little. Nathan took a few laps to pick off
most of the field and by lap 5 got into his stride and put together a
20 lap run of laps all within 0.4 of a second! This was just too fast
for everyone else and he finished 2 laps clear of Adam, with Jamie
coming in 3rd. Leg 2 saw another fast start from John but had a problem
on lap 2 which set Adam, Jamie and Nathan free and then unfortunatly he
dropped out 4 laps later. Nathan was flying again until he also dropped
out after 15 laps, this left Adam to take the win with Jamie following
in 2nd and Richard Vyse coming in 3rd.
A Final
Dan Wooster had once again taken TQ and so lined up on pole position
but with championship rival Charlie Ware right behind in 2nd. Once leg
1 was underway Dan took a fairly comfortable win leading from start to
finish, John Fillingham came through well from 4th to finish 2nd just
under 2 laps down and Andrew came in 3rd. Leg 2 looked like it could be
a bit closer with Charlie making a better start and able to stay with
Dan for the first minute of racing but eventually made a mistake and
let Dan get away to take a second win. Charlie took 2nd this time with
a good drive from Anthony Adcock to take 3rd.
Take
a look at the Results page to see the
overall finishing positions and the Championship Tables
have been updated too.
So
we are now left with just 1 week (2 rounds) of the championship left
and there is still plenty to play for. F1 and F2 looks like it has been
wrapped up but with serveral drivers needing to complete the last 2
finals to get to the 10 round mark things could still change, and with
Nathan and John tied on points in F1 for 3rd place the last week could
be very exciting!
We
have had 25 drivers take part in the chapionship which is a great
turnout and it would be great to see as many of you as possible come
along next week to finish the series in style. See you next week.

Championship Week 6

This
week’s racing was on Track
15. Now we have 12 rounds completed some scores will start getting
dropped so it will really interesting over the next few weeks as
drivers see what they have to do to improve their overall totals!
Qualifing
Heat 1
Very close tonight between Mark Offord (won 1st round), George Dixon
(won 2nd round), and Daniel Oliver (2nd in both rounds). But with Mark
having a breakage in the 2nd round the end result was George on pole
and Dan 2nd.
Heat 2
Close racing saw Peter Covell win both rounds with Paul Coleman 2nd
after a good run in the 1st round but a breakage in the 2nd. Martin
Flower improved by 2 laps in the 2nd round to get 3rd whilst Lee seemed
to be struggling with his new bodyshell.
Heat 3
Two good consistent rounds from Andrew Keen saw him take the win and
make the A final. Adam Burgess kept the car in one piece for the 2nd
round and got 2nd with Anthony Adcock and Dave Irving having a couple
of good battles and ending 3rd and 4th respectively. Richard Vyse was
running well with what must be the quietest car on the track but it
might need a bit more top end on the straight in this company!
Heat 4
After two very close rounds Dan Wooster and Nathan Maycock shared a 1st
and 2nd each but with Dan’s win in the 2nd round when the track
is a bit faster he was able to get pole by improving his time by 6
seconds over the first round. Charlie Ware couldn’t find the
speed or grip he had had in the last couple of weeks but battled to get
3rd in the 2nd round followed by Steve Swan and John Fillingham.
Finals
D Final
Two good starts from 2nd place saw Dan Oliver get the overall win by
winning both finals with George Dixon and Mark Offord keeping him
honest! The recent chassis tweaks by his chief mechanic (thanks for the
top tips Ben) seem to have helped his driving. Pheobe Offord is still
getting to grips with her car but she enjoys her racing.
C Final
Richard Vyse got the overall win from pole with two clean runs. Paul
Coleman struggled with car problems in the first run with a marshalling
issue (sorry Paul, I now realise I can’t marshal and take race
notes at the same time) followed by a head on with recovering Lee after
a spin. Martin Flower kept out of trouble for two 2nd places, followed
by Paul and Lee in 3rd and 4th.
B Final
The first race saw Adam Burgess and John Fillingham get a good start
with Adam pulling slightly ahead trying to keep it clean and protect
the left front but turning in too early at the end of the straight
broke the right front! This left John to pull away for the win with
Anthony Adcock and Dave Irving having a good race for 2nd. At one point
Dave found a “Mario Kart” short cut through the moving
barrier when pushed wide in the chicane but Anthony still just held on
for 2nd.
The second final started in a similar way but John had a nightmare 3rd
lap where a roll took him over the barrier just before the loop so he
lost a lap. He kept his head down and finished 6 seconds down to Adam
but got the win as it was agreed the lap should be added back, with
Adam 2nd. Dave improved on his first time to get 3rd. Overall results
need to be adjusted but I think it will be John, followed by Anthony
and then Dave.
A Final
Good start to the first final and Nathan Maycock managed to sneak ahead
of Dan Wooster and Steve Swan managed to sneak ahead of Charlie. At 2
minutes it was all very close at the top. Charlie had a complete
nightmare corner at the end of the straight (18 second lap!) which
completely took the fight out of him and the top 3 stayed as they were
to the end – Dan, Nathan, Steve.
The second final saw Dan get a better start and keep the lead from pole
and stayed ahead with a good clean run. Nathan and Andrew were holding
the other podium places with Charlie pulling out early on and Steve
taking the final place. It looked like it would stay this way to the
end but in the closing laps Nathan had a big moment and handed 2nd to
Andrew which he duly held onto.
Well done all for another good night’s racing. Check
out the Results and see how things are
hotting up in the Championship!
Cheers

Qualifing
F3's
R1 - Mark got off to a good start by winning heat 1 with a 13/185
posting FTD as we went along in Q1, followed closely by George who was
slowly hotting up (pun intended!) with a 12/191 and John who gets
better each week.
Onto R2 and with youngsters George and Callum learning the lines and
improving all the time how long can the more experienced duo of Mark
and John hold off the young guns? This week Mark held onto to the
F3’s FTD followed closely by George, who improved in R2,
John, Callum and then Phoebe who won’t take long to overtake
the boys.
F2's
Unfortunately only 2 of the F2’s showed up this week with
both Dave and Richard neck and neck in qualifying in both rounds with
Richard (17/180) just pipping Dave (17/189) this week.
F1's
Onto the big guns now and these drivers can really fly, there is hardly
anything between all 6 F1 drivers this year. It appears that if you
want to get in the A final anything from 18 laps might just get you in
there.
With these guys speed and consistency is the key and the laps moved up
a gear or 2. Charlie led R1 with a 21/183 followed by Dan on a 21/187,
Nathan, Adam, and Steve, John’s car took a bit of abuse in
practice and needed first aid.
Onto R2 and with 4 out of 6 drivers improving who would get overall
FTD. It ended up Charlie, Dan, Steve, Nathan, Adam and John.
Finals
C. John clearly had the edge in this one and eased out to win both legs
followed by Callum and then Phoebe who almost caught Callum in the 2nd
leg. Let’s see how Callum goes next week with a new speedo
and motor perhaps.
B. With Dave and Richard so close this would be too close to call, Dave
won the 1st leg by 2 seconds from Richard, George, who was getting
hotter all the time (pun intended again!) and then Mark.
2nd leg and Dave just edged out Richard again but George was so hot his
car burst into a cloud of smoke only put out by firemen Nathan and Dan,
3rd was Mark with George 4th.
A. Charlie sped off from pole with Dan and the gang in hot pursuit. On
lap 5 Charlie turned in too early and had to be marshalled, such is the
good standard of driving at this level that a single mistake is
sometimes all it needs for others to win. Dan 1st, Charlie 2nd, Steve
3rd, followed by Nathan, Adam, John.
Leg 2 and Charlie led from the start but a few laps in got nudged by
someone who will remain nameless (It was Nathan!) who in fairness then
proceeded to take Dan out in the same incident! Back in the race and
Charlie won from Dan , Steve, Nathan, Adam and John.
This weeks
racing
took place on Track 5
with Richard Vyse the star of this weeks video!
The Results
have been posted and the Championship
table updated, including the individual formula tables too.
See you on
Friday
for rounds 11 + 12.

Championship Week 4
|

This
week’s
racing was on Track 10.
As we close in on 10 rounds, the championship table should start to get
interesting as drivers can start thinking about which scores they may
be able to drop and how it will move them up the listing.
An overall comment first before moving onto the report was that
tonight’s racing was very clean compared to what
I’ve seen other weeks this year. However, this
doesn’t mean it wasn’t exciting.
Qualifying
Heat 1
Daniel Oliver had a good couple of races and seems to have found a set
up he is happier with and this meant he won both heats. Max was going
well although seemed to have an understeer issue that was slowing him
down. Callum was struggling with his car tonight.
Heat 2
In the 1st run Paul had a flyer and won by 2 laps. Peter and Ben had a
good tussle for 2nd with Peter coming out ahead. In the 2nd run Paul
suffered a marshalling hold up by a guest marshall (apologies Paul) and
then struggled to get back on terms with Peter. Peter just held out for
the win although tried to throw it away on the penultimate lap when he
disconnected his sensor lead in a crash.
Heat 3
Charlie blew the field away with a demonstration run, which he then
repeated in the second round. The 2nd round (excluding Charlie) was
very close, Anthony initially pulled away with Charlie gapping Dave and
Adam who seemed to be slowing each other down. Adam eventually pulled
slightly ahead of Dave and closed in on Anthony to get 2nd. In the end
less than 3 seconds separated the 3 of them with Charlie improving his
previous time by 2 seconds. When asked about his performance Dave said
of the 1st round “I was sh**e” and of the 2nd round
“less cr@p, verging on good”.
Heat 4
The pressure was on as Charlie had laid down a couple of storming
markers in his qualifying runs. In the first round Dan Wooster was
straight off to a good start continuing his run of recent good form but
just being shy of Charlie’s P1 time by 1.1 seconds.The 2nd
round was a similar story with Dan trying to get pole and he was
looking good right up to the penultimate lap. At this point his car hit
the wall on the main straight which was enough to take him from 0.5 up
to 1.5 down as the suspension damage slowed his car. Nathan got a much
better run to get 3rd overall.
Finals
C Final
Ben was looking good for the overall win until a car failure on lap 22
of the 2nd run. This meant Martin was able to collect the overall win
with two consistent runs and Ben took a consolation 2nd place, with
Daniel Oliver in 3rd.
B Final
The first race saw an exciting nip and tuck battle between Adam and
Anthony with plenty of lead changes going on. By half way though Adam
was able to pull slightly ahead and hold on for the win.It was a
similar story in the 2nd race with Adam pulling away earlier on. A huge
roll from Anthony cost him a whole lap, which then saw him then battle
with Paul for 2nd place. Paul’s car seemed more consistent
with a new spur gear and he held on to 2nd. Overall Adam took the win
with Anthony and Paul on equal points giving Anthony 2nd on qualifying
position.
A Final
Charlie was again in demonstration (or possibly demolition) mode as he
lapped the field by the 3 minute mark and completed an uneventful race
with a metronomic display of consistent lappery! Dan and Steve followed
him home. The 2nd race was closer but after a similar start from Charlie
no one could challenge him even with two rolls on consecutive corners
on the final lap. Dan took second with Steve fighting off a strong
challenge from John. The overall result was Charlie, Dan, Steve.
Sorry if
I’ve
gone on a bit and drawn this out. This is my first report and
I’m sure I’ll get better as I practise.
Check out the Results
to see how this week’s racing has affected the Championship.
See you all
next week.

Championship Week 3

The
action this week
took place on Track 2
(or 15A), one of the new layouts that always provides close racing. 15
drivers attended this week, still a few missing though. Where are you
guys? You're missing out on some great racing!
Qualifying was
once
again headed by Dan Wooster and so placed his car on its regular place
of pole positon in the A final. The B final saw Andrew Keen take up the
front grid slot and after a difficult couple of qualifying heats Paul
Coleman would lead the C final away.
So after a
dissapointing
qualifying result Paul had to make sure he at least took the win in the
C final to keep pressure on his formula 2 rivals. Sure enough with two
clean runs the win was his followed by Martin Flower with two second
places, Lee Henson next with two third places and John Reynolds came in
forth. A short video of Pauls car (looking very pink!) can be found HERE.
The B final
looks on
paper like a comfortable win for Andrew Keen with two wins from pole
position, but in leg 1 he was run very close by Peter Covell who
finished just over one second behind. Leg 2 however was slightly more
convicing for Andrew, finishing two laps clear and taking the overall
win. Second place was taken by Peter with Dave Irving in third, the
points were actually tied between Peter and Dave but the qualifying
results were taken as the tie breaker which meant Dave missed out.
Forth was Anthony Adcock followed by Richard Vyse. A bit more video
footage can be found HERE,
this time following each of the cars for a few laps.
The A final was
very
close! Leg 1 was taken by Dan Wooster but was pushed all the way by
Nathan Maycock who finshed 1.3 seconds behind. Leg 2 was even closer
though, the win was taken by Charlie Ware with Nathan again coming in
second, this time just 0.34 behind with Dan a further 1.06 seconds back
in third. The overall results were just as tight, Dan took the win from
Nathan with them both scoring 4 points but Dan's pole position making
the difference. Third was Charlie from John Fillingham then Me, with
myself and John also with our points tied but John's better qualifying
position gave him forth.
This weeks
overall
results will be posted next week (slight mix up with the file), but the
individual final results with all the lap times can be viewed HERE.
The overall Championship
Table is now online, the
individual formula tables will follow after next weeks racing, which
will also mark the halfway point of the series. When looking at the
championship table remember that it is still early days and there are
dropped scores to take into account too, so there is plenty of time for
it all to change!
Thanks everyone
for
another great night, see you all next week!

Championship Week 2
|
|
This
week saw 16
drivers come along to do battle once again, Charlie and Dave returned
after a couple of weeks away and finally my car was fixed (briefly!).
Qualifying
was close again but it was Dan Wooster that posted the
fastest time overall for the second week in a row. The Formula Gradings
were proven to be pretty much spot on with the way the rest of the
racers qualified, the top six were all F1 drivers so made up the A
final, the next six were all F2 drivers so made up the B final, and the
C final was made up of four F3 Drivers.
As
usual the C final was up first, but Mark Offord managed the same trick
as I had earlier in the evening, breaking his car on the warm up lap!
Unfortunatly this put him out for the rest of the night, so it was left
to Dan, George and Pheobe to fight for the win. Leg 1 was a close race
with Dan taking the win by just a few seconds from George. In Leg 2
George could still take the overall win if he could finish infront of
Dan thanks to his pole position. Making a good start and lapping
quickly, George was looking good for the win when a bump resulted in a
broken steering arm and race over. So Dan finished the race cleanly
taking a second win and the overall C final win.
With
six drivers the B final was going to be hectic! With a tight series of
corners at the end of the main straight it was always likely that
someone might get tangled up and pole man Paul Coleman was that driver.
After looking very quick in qualifying Paul found himself right at the
back at the end of the first lap and had to battle back through the
field. At half race distance Paul had made his way throught the pack
and was having a great battle with Dave, with Ben, Richard and Peter
all on the same lap as the leaders and not far behind. It was looking
like it would go right down to the last lap when a piece of the track
marking came loose on the main straight causing a couple of cars to
crash. Rather than risk damage to the cars or to the marshals who were
trying to sort the track out, the race was ended straight away after 4
minutes completed. The result was taken from the last completed lap so
Paul took the win with Dave, Ben and Richard following all having
completed 24 laps. Leg 2 passed without any major incidents but with
racing that was just as close. With his cars steering behaving itself
this time, Peter was more competative and was able to battle at the
front with Dave and Paul. At the end of the 5 minutes Peter had
completed 31 laps and took the win by 3 seconds from Dave with Paul a
further 4 seconds back but still on the lead lap. Paul and Dave ended
the night tied on 4 points each but Paul takes overall B final win
thanks to his better qualifying position.
The A
final also had six cars lined up on the grid with Dan sitting in pole
position. Now it is a little tricky for me to write a summery of
exactly what happened in the A final races as I was also racing so
therefore was concentrating on my car! Anyway here goes.... Leg 1 was
dominated by Dan who took the win finishing 2 laps clear of John and
Nathan who were second and third seperated by just 1.26 seconds.
Charlie came in forth ahead of Me, with Anthony dropping out after 16
laps with car problems. Leg 2 was won by Dan again but this time
Charlie was able to stay closer to the leader and finished 6 seconds
down but on the same lap. John, Nathan and Myself followed behind with
Anthony continuing to have technical issues. So with pole position and
two wins Dan took maximum points and the overall win. John was second
and Charlie third.

Club
Championship Week 1
|
|
After
a long build up
finally the championship has started! There was a good turn out, 16
drivers in total, including a new face this week - welcome to the club
Chris Copeman. A few regulars were missing with broken cars and other
commitments so there was a great opportunity for others to pick up some
good points and get of to a flyer.
Qualifying flew
past
quite quickly with ‘the usual suspects’ filling the
A final along with Andrew Keen who’s now un-tweaked car is
performing much better. Anthony Adcock headed the B final, Lee Henson
the C final and Max Hatfull would lead the D final away.
Finals time,
and first
up was the D final. Callum was making his second appearance at the club
but suffered from some car problems during qualifying, fortunately he
was able to take up his grid slot at the back and got some running. The
overall D final win went to George Dixon who dominated both legs
finishing several laps clear in both runs.
The C final was much closer, Lee, Martin and Chris all completed 26
laps in leg 1 and were separated by just 6 seconds after 5 minutes of
close racing. Leg 2 saw an easier win for Martin finishing a few laps
clear of the rest. This left Martin and Lee tied on 3 points each but
Lee takes the win due to his higher qualifying position, and also takes
a early lead in F3.
The B final had a clear winner, Anthony won both legs finishing several
laps clear of the rest and posting times that would have been
competitive in the A final! Richard Vyse had 2 great runs and finished
second which also makes him the early leader in F2.
After qualifying it was pretty clear the A final was going to be close,
just 3 seconds separated all 4 drivers but pole position was taken by
Dan Wooster. Leg 1 was lead by Dan with John never more than 1.5
seconds behind and then Nathan the same distance back from John, each
driver trying to apply enough pressure to to car in front to force a
mistake but the driving from each of them was faultless! Eventually Dan
crossed the line first just 0.57 seconds ahead of John, next was Andrew
after Nathan was cruelly taken out of the race by a bit of lose tape
just 4 laps from the end. Leg 2 saw Dan lead the pack away again
followed by John with Nathan making a great move on Andrew at the first
corner to slot into third. Not long into the race though and Dan made a
mistake which caused his car to jump barrier and miss the timing loop!
This released John and Nathan to battle it out for the win, racing nose
to tail for the whole race. In the end John took the win by 0.37
seconds from Nathan with Dan recovering to finish third. So with a
first and second place finish John Fillingham took the overall A final
win and also takes up his place as Championship and F1 leader.
The Results
page has now been updated with tonight's scores.
Well done to
everyone
for providing some great racing, but especially to each of the Final
winners. This is looking like its going to be a very close Championship
and with some very quick drivers still to come back things can only get
even better!
See you all
next Friday
for Week 2!

KMCC
2011 Club
Championship
After a
break of two years the club
championship returns! The last
series was the autumn championship
of 2009, since then the club (and
the touring car class as a whole)
has been through a bit of a slump,
which has meant we haven't had
enough people racing to make a
championship worth while. Happily
the club seems to have had a bit
of a resurgance over the last few
months so the time has come to
bring back a bit of competiton.
The series will start on Friday 14th
October so that gives us
one more warm up night and then we
start. We will run for 8 weeks in
total taking us upto and including
the 2nd of December. The format of
the night will remain the same,
meaning 2 x 3 qualifying heats
from which the finals will be
decided and then 2 x 5 minute
finals for everyone. Each final
will be counted towards your
chamionship position giving a
total of 16 rounds. Your best 10
results will be used to calculate
your end of champinship result, so
don't panic if you have a bad week
or can't make it along to race one
night, there will still be plenty
of chances to get some good
points!
Standard 'stock' touring car rules
apply as per a normal Friday
nights racing (see 'Indoor' for
full details), we may from time to
time scrutineer the car's,
checking the weight and ride
height. A reminder that the
minimum weight for a touring car
is 1350g, and the ride height
should be no lower than 5mm.
Mini's are still more than welcome
(I still bring mine along most
weeks just incase there's enough
to race), if we get enough along
there's nothing stopping us
running them in a championship
class, if not we will still fit
them in somewhere.
Formula
Gradings, this may be
new to some of you newer racers.
While we will all be competing
for the overall championship
title, there will also be chance
to battle with the drivers of a
similar ability/experience level
to you in a kind of mini series
within the main champs. All the
drivers will be divided up into
F1, F2 and F3 depending on your
abiliy and experience and there
will be trophies for the top
three in each formula! Thats
right, there will be TROPHIES!
Which brings us on nicely the
prize for the overall winner.
The
Colin
Williams Championship Trophey,
after the tragic loss of Colin
it was decided that we should do
something special to remember
him by. So the decision was made
for the club to buy a special
trophey that would be presented
to the championship winner which
would bare Colins name and also
be engraved with each winners
name. This means that the winner
will be able to keep this
trophey until the next
championship when they will need
to hand it back to the club to
be competed for again. This will
hopefully be a great way of
remembering each champion over
the coming years and of course
meaning that Colin's name will
continue to be a big part of the
club for many years to come.
Well
I think that just
about covers it, the formula's
will be decided after this weeks
club meeting and will be posted
here so be sure to check in
regually. The clubs Facebook
page is still going strong and
if you have any questions about
the championship or anything
else for that matter post it up
on the wall and someone will be
able to help you out.
See
you all on
Friday!

Well,
it's been a while
since I've updated the site, so thanks to those of you who reminded me
it needs updating, as it's easy to get out of the habit and wonder if
anyone is actually reading the site - is it really last October since I
added any of the race results!!
Facebook
Somebody
was saying we
should have a facebook page - well we already have one and you can find
it here KMCC
Facebook page>>
Please feel free to post what you are up to in the world of RC, or
anything else for that matter!
We
are of course still running Touring cars with 13.5T Brushless motors,
or a 27 turn Brushed motor, and we now have a permanent class for
Tamiya Mini's, which are great fun to drive no matter what your skill
level and they are a great car to get started with as they are pretty
cheap and fairly indestructible! If you are thinking about starting
out, come and talk to any of us on a Friday evening.

I
haven't gone back and updated all the results since last October, but I
