Christmas Break......

.....with it getting close to Christmas, we've decided to take a break a little early, so there won't be any more racing now until the 8th January 2010

We would like to wish everyone who's raced this year at KMCC a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year and we hope to see you all next year as we look to move the Club from strength to strength and start to rebuild numbers to where they used to be.

You can find tonight's race results here - Race Results >>

Track personal bests have also been updated to include Track 12 - Personal Bests >>

See you all Next Year!

Nearly there......

.....only one more round left to go now in the Autumn Championship and it is really close now in F3, as Stefan and Sam are neck and neck for 1st place, with Daniel still in with a slim chance of taking the win. F1 looks a bit clearer, with Dan showing everyone a clean pair of heels for a win!

Half Way.....

.....through the Championship with Rounds 7and 8 run tonight (race results can be found here>> ) and with fewer than usual racing at the Club presently, we've decided to temporarily remove F2 as a category and move the F2 drivers into F1. All the results have been recalculated and you can see the revised Championship standings here >>.

At the moment, it looks like Dan or Charlie are most likely to take 1st place in F1, while 3rd place and below could go to any one of Colin, Rob, Adam or Nathan. In F3, it's just too close to call right now and anyone could take the top spot, especially now Ian has got his new brushless and Lipo combination!

Don't forget - everyone races just the same whether it's a championship night or not - the only difference is that you get to score some points on a championship night!

Track Personal Bests

People have been asking for a while if we can collect personal bests for each track so you can see if you are getting faster or not - well because we suggested this would be a useful feature, RC-Timing have added this a new feature to the 2010 update of their race software. Unknown to most drivers we've been testing this for a few weeks and now all the bugs are worked out, it's been launched and we are now using the updated version.

So, we'll now record each drivers best times when we run a regular track and keep the tables on the "Indoor" page up to date. To see the track data so far, go here Personal Bests >>

 9th October 2009

7 minute final!

With a couple of drivers dropping out of the second leg of the finals, we put everyone left into a 7 min final and amazingly they all survived!

Autumn 2009 Championship

OK time to start another Championship which will begin on Friday 16th October, running for 8 weeks until Friday 4th December.

The format of racing will remain the same as every Friday, with 2 x 3 minute qualifiers and 2 x 5 minute finals. The results from each leg of the finals will count, giving a possible 16 race results in total of which your best 10 will count towards your championship placing. This means you can drop your worst 6 finals, or miss up to 3 weeks!

It doesn't’t matter if you can’t complete 10 finals, everyone can still come and race as normal – even though the Championship is running, race nights are open to everyone and you’ll always be racing in your normal heat because we want the evening to remain fun.

Rules....

Just a reminder on the rules which are pretty simple, any 27T brushed or 13.5T brushless motor can be used, along with any pre-glued slick tyre. We are still selling the STCC tyres at £17 for four tyres, a saving of £6.50 off the normal web price (Thanks Mike!) and we would encourage everyone to use these tyres.

Minimum weight is 1450g to help shed some of the ballast people are carrying because of Lipo's and cars will be scrutineered during the series just check everyone is still playing fair!

At the end of the series, there will be winners for each of F1, F2 and F3 - you can check out the club formula for each driver here:

Good luck to everyone at the club during the upcoming series

See you all next Friday!

 25th September 2009

Back to a track from the book tonight as John wasn't there .

Tonight was Kristian's last night at the Club for a while as he's off to Uni now. Hopefully we'll see him again during the holidays - but in the meantime, I'm sure everyone would want to wish him good luck.

Tonight's results can be found here Race Results >>

Thank You...

It's been tough at times over the past few weeks trying to keep the Club running with reduced numbers and with Dave taking a break, and I just wanted to say a personal "thank you" to everyone for mucking in each week and helping to set up and put away the track.

Autumn Championship

It's time start to thinking about the next Club Championships, and although numbers are a bit down at the moment, the Champs is a good opportunity for drivers to update their ability ratings at the very least, so we'll go ahead as usual and see how we go.

The series will run from Friday 16th October to Friday 4th December - so get practicing as there's only a couple of weeks to go!!!

 18th September 2009

Definitely going to have to show John where the track book is kept next week - another "random" track left quite a few struggling with a very tricky technical infield section, that I can't even bring myself to draw

Tonight's results can be found here Race Results >>

See you all next Friday!

 11th September 2009

Who let John loose with the track markers tonight , but what a laugh

I don't think we've ever had a track with a diagonal straight before, and it certainly made you think about you're driving a bit more, yet surprisingly, there seemed to be less marshalling and less breakages (due to crashes anyway) than on many other tracks!

Anyway tonight's and last weeks race results can be found here Race Results >>

 28th August 2009

Reduced numbers tonight due to the Bank holiday - so thanks to everyone for pitching in and helping to set up and put away the track - it's amazing how quick it can be done with everyone helping

 21st August 2009

Unfortunately we ended up canceling the race meeting on the 7th August, but it was back to normal last week and tonight, so both week's results can be found here Race Results >>

It was good to see another new driver at the Club, so welcome to Darren Jenkinson.

Next two weeks......

The website will not be updated for the next two weeks, as I will be away - but the Club should still be meeting as normal. There is a chance that Dave might not be able to run a race meeting next week (7th Aug), due to work, BUT he will post a message on the Kettering Club Forum on RCRacechat >> if for any reason the meeting will not be held - so keep an eye on that towards the end of next week!

See you all in two weeks!

Results

Race results for the 3rd and 10th July have now been posted Race Results >> and we raced tonight on a new track design, that was put together by John, Rob, Nathan and Kris Track24 >> which was fun to drive.

Holiday Time?

We are heading into the holiday season now, and that was very evident tonight with only 9 drivers turning up to race (and only 7 managing the finals ). Although we can run a race evening with any number of people, with lower numbers it's important that enough turn up early to help set-up the track, as it's no fun trying to do it all by yourself! So, if you are racing, could you try and be at the Club for around 6.45pm and if you know you can't race one or more weeks during July and August, please let me or Dave know. You can send me a Private Message through RCRacechat >> or send me an email >> to let me know.

Thanks,

Colin

 26th June 2009

It was nice to see a couple of faces tonight we haven't seen for a while, and with "returner's luck" Rob managed to not only qualify in the A Final, but he took the overall win as well!

It was also good to welcome Stafan tonight, although he has been Daniel's "pit buddy" for a while, tonight was his first race with his new Xray.

Tonight's results can be found here Race Results >>

Paul Upton has also posted a short video (couldn't help but play with his new phone!) of tonight's first A Final onto You Tube, which you can see here >>. Thanks Paul.

Now we don't normally make changes to the Formula standings of drivers until the end of the year, but with the way this series has gone, then it seems appropriate to make some changes now, so Colin Williams will move into F1 and Paul and Simon Londors will move into F2!

Two more weeks to go....

....until the end of the Championshiop, so time for me to predict who is going to take the top slots in each formula!

F1, now this is a tough one, as it could go several ways at the moment, but assuming that Dan, Charlie and Chris all run the remaining two weeks, then I'm going to stick my neck out and predict Chris for 1st, Dan for 2nd and Charlie for 3rd. F2 is a bit easier to predict, and I'm going for Me in 1st, Dave in 2nd and Neil in 3rd, but Rob could still chase for 2nd or 3rd if his back will allow him to run the last two weeks! F3 is another tricky one to predict, with four drivers chasing the top 3 slots. But if I had to predict, then I think I'd go for Simon in 1st, Paul in 2nd and Adam in 3rd - but events could very easily prove me wrong over the next couple of rounds!

Good luck to everyone as we enter the last couple of weeks of the Series.

Thank You.....

.......to everyone who helped to lay out the track and to pack away tonight, it was nice to see most people getting stuck in to help. Remember, it's your Club and if not enough people are willing to arrive a liitle earlier, or stay after racing to help with this, then there may be nights when we struggle to race at all, so please remember to help!

Halfway Through......

....the Championship and time to take a look at who's doing what! Starting with F1, Dan Wooster has the edge at the moment for 1st place, but it's very close and Charlie Ware, Chris Smith and Stuart Ward are all challenging for the top slot. In F2, it looks like Colin Williams has an almost unassailable lead (must be the new car ) and that second and third places are going tobe closely contended between Rob Oliver, Dave Irving, Neil Overson and Mark Clayton.

In F3 it's also begining to look clear that either Simon or Paul Londors are going to take 1st and 2nd - but who will come out on top - I certainly wouldn't put money on it at this stage! That leaves 3rd place up for grabs and so far Adam and Mark Wilkins are looking good to argue over it, but you can't count out Luke Overson or Sam Burgess at this stage.

But of course this is all speculation and with 4 more weeks still to go, anyone can still put in some good runs and end up as "top dog".

 1st May 2009

Rounds 3 & 4 Spring Championship

Some fast and close racing tonight with two great runs from Charlie Ware to take maximum points in the A Final. The other finals each saw one person taking two wins a piece, with Mark Clayton in the B (despite it being the first run for his new Mi-3.5), Paul Londors in the C and Adam Wilkins in the D. One or two people were a bit out of sorts tonight, with Kris Irons still struggling with overheating problems and Lee Henson trying to get to grip (literally!) with a new car, and Daniel Klinga suffering interference (?) problems.

It was great to welcome Paul Londors tonight and to see both brothers battling during the qualifiers! Simon had the edge tonight just out qualifying Paul to move a final ahead - but who will be where at the end of the Championship, as they are both looking very strong contendors for the F3 top spot even at this early stage?

Spring 2009 Championship Series

Now we are over the Easter Holiday's it's time to start the Spring Championship Series! The Championship will start on Friday 24th April, running for 8 weeks until Friday 12th June.

It doesn’t matter if you can’t complete 10 finals, everyone can still come and race – even though the Championship is running, race nights are still open to everyone and you’ll always be racing in your normal heat because we still want the evening to be fun.

Rules....

As previously the rules are pretty simple, any 27T brushed or 13.5T brushless motor can be used, along with any pre-glued slick tyre. We are still selling the STCC tyres at £17 for four tyres, a saving of £6.50 off the normal web price (Thanks Mike!) and would encourage everyone to use these tyres..

We will be introducing a lower minimum weight of 1450g from now on to help shed some of the ballast people are carrying because of Lipo's and cars will be scrutineered during the series just check everyone is still playing fair!

At the end of the series, there will be winners for each of F1, F2 and F3 - so everyone has the chance of a trophy - you can check out the club formula for each driver here:

Spring Series

A "heads up" here that the Spring Series is due to start on Friday 24th April - so not much more time to get practicing!

 20th March 2009

Tonight's track was one we haven't used in this layout for some time, Track 12, which is a very fast and open track and previously was modified to create version 12a to make better use of the space. Going back to the more open track meant a lot of laps were put in tonight, with Chris Smith getting the most on 41 laps in 5 minutes, an average lap time of only 7.43 seconds!

Club Car

Thanks to Paul Kirkup, one of our past racers, the Club has acquired a very good condition Associated TC4, with all the electrics and radio gear, to use a Club Car. Topped off with a generously donated brand new Tekin 3400 LiPo battery from Mike Smith, means we now have a car all set up ready for any visitors at the Club to use . The first person to take advantage of this was Russ tonight, who's thinking of getting back into racing, so he gave it a test run round the track, and althoguh he was a bit rusty (and he wasn't used to steerwheel radio gear!) he showed the car runs well and can certainly be competitive in the right pair of hands.

So if you are reading this and are thinking about coming to the Club to take a look at what we do, why not see Colin or Dave and ask about the Club Car for a trial run free of charge .

Comic Relief

Thanks to all those that raced last night, your race fees and a "top-up" from the Club resulted in us donating £50 to help those in need - give yourselves a pat on the back!.

 6th March 2009

A couple of drivers with new cars tonight - Rob with a new T2R Pro and Lee with Charlie's old T2'008 - had a mixed night, with Rob setting some fast lap times without doing much to the set-up and Lee struggling a bit with a new car and motor set-up. It seems X-Ray are becoming more and more popular at the Club, but John and Chris showed that it's not the car, but the driver that matters the most!

Track 13 is one of my favourite tracks and I think most people enjoyed it tonight - the full results are now available:

Getting back to normal.....

....what with the weather and half term, etc. the past two weeks have been a complete washout with no racing on the 6th or 13th Feb - but tonight things were on the up, with 14 drivers turning up to race and I must thank everyone for their help setting up and packing away, as I'm struggling with my back at the moment!

At the start of the night the track was a bit slippery, probably due to lack of use, but the grip soon came up and gave some fun racing - well for me anyway! Interesting events in the B Final start to suggest that maybe, just maybe, the pupil is beginning to become the master, as Luke Overson put in two cracking races, beating his dad in the overall results - well done Luke

BRCA / Club Membership 2009

Don't forget, that if you haven't paid your BRCA or Club membership for 2009, you need to do so as soon as possible. The BRCA membership has gone up to £13 for 2009, but we have reduced the Club membership to just £2, so that it only costs £15 for both, the same as 2008. If you haven't paid yet, see Colin, Dave or Nicola on a race night.

See you all next week......

 6th February 2009

BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS, WE HAVE DECIDED TO CANCEL TONIGHT'S RACE MEETING.

Keep an eye on the Club Forum for any further information.

 30th January 2009

I think track 13 is one of my favourite tracks, and I'm sure that if I hadn't had any glitches with my car, an A Final placing would have been on the cards - well, I can dream can't I?
