As 2004 rushes to an end, tonight
saw the last race meeting of this year!
Congratulations
must go to all the winners of the Autumn Series - who were
awarded their trophies tonight. We will have a break from
competition racing for now, but expect to run a Spring Series
next year - so get practicing!
Tonight's racing was on a track
layout we haven't used before and the cars managed to get
up plenty of speed with the layout. Track 15 can be found
HERE.
All of the results from tonight's
racing can be found HERE.

As you can see, there is no winner
name against tickets 69 and 221, so if you are
holding onto either of those numbers, you need to see Colin
on a race night before the 21st January to claim your prize!
If nobody claims either of them, then the "reserve winner"
will take the prize - Mark Phillips for the bodyshell and
David Seamark for the Bearing blaster.
All the prizes were sponsored
by:
Rob Oliver (www.RCMatch.co.uk)
for the two sets of GP3300's and
Mike Smith (www.Modeltech.co.uk)
for all the other prizes
A huge THANK YOU to both of them
for their generosity.
Happy
Christmas!
And don't forget racing starts
again on the 7th January 2005 - see you there!

Autumn
Championship Series
They think it's all over - it
is now!
Yes, the Autumn Championship
Series has now come to an end, with some positions only being
decide by this weeks results. In F1, John Fillingham went
into tonight's races knowing that Anthony Spooner couldn't
take 1st place from him, but the fight for 3rd was going to
be close with Dave Irving chasing Nathan Maycock hard. In
the end, Nathan held Dave off to take 3rd spot. In F2, Colin
Williams and Mark Clayton were neck and neck, both with the
chance of 1st place. By the end of the night, Colin had held
Mark off, but with only 2 points in it, this was probably
the most closely contested formula. Even though Jamie Oliver
didn't have the best of nights with his new RC-Lab, he had
enough of a buffer to make sure of 3rd spot.
In F3, Daniel Mayes had a clear
lead from early in the series, and he took a convincing 1st
place. Simon Phillips had a bit of a challenge from Graeme
Chapman late in the series, but held him off to take 2nd place
with a cool 20 point buffer.
So, here are the top positions,
each of which will recieve a trophy next week.

We will be taking a break over

November 2004 | | Only
two weeks left now until the end of the Autumn Series and quite a few drivers
have now run at least 8 rounds. The leaders at this stage are: F1
- John Fillinghan, Anthony Spooner and Nathan Maycock, with Dave Irving and James
Trostler still in with a shout for 3rd place. F2
- Colin Williams, Mark Clayton, Jamie Oliver, with Stuart Gates and Luke Byrne
still challenging for a top 3 slot. F3
- Daniel Mayes, Simon Phillips, Graeme Chapman, with Kevin Howard and Simon Williams
still battling hard. Placings can still
change though over the next two weeks! There will be trophies for the top 3 drivers
in each formula, as well as overall Club champion, awarded on the 17th December. Full
results from tonight's meeting can be found HERE,
and you can check out the Round
10 Series results HERE.

has catered for the model railway and slot car customers. Due to customer requests
they are now also a stockist for Tamiya remote control electric cars and spares,
together with R/C model boat parts. You
can find out more about them at their website - www.trmodels.com |
| 12th November
2004 | | Two
thirds of the way through the Championship Series now, but there are still only
a few drivers who completed 8 rounds - so the current standings are likley to
change quite a lot over the next couple of weeks as people complete 8 runs. Full
results from tonight's meeting can be found HERE,
and you can check out the Round
8 Series results HERE.

November 2004 | | Some
more fast racing tonight on Track 12, especially with 4 of the A finalists all
on the same lap for the whole 5 minutes of the second leg! Full

October 2004 | | A
couple of problems with some of the F1 drivers this week landing them in the D
final, but some excellent close racing in all of the races. We
are halfway through the Autumn Race Series now, and we can start to see a couple
of drivers who are making a big impression! In F1, Anthony Spooner and John Fillingham
are battling for top position, while in F2, Stuart Gates is lining up for top
place, but Paul Coleman is chasing hard, and in F3, Daniel Mayes is looking good
to take the lead, with Simon Phillips close behind. Full
results from tonight's meeting can be found HERE,
and you can check out the Round
6 Series results HERE.

October 2004 | | A
wonderful opportunity tonight for a few of us to pick up some extra points, as
a few of the regular "A" finalists were missing! Full
results from tonight's meeting can be found HERE,
and you can check out the Round
5 Series results HERE.
Some new photo's have also been added to the
Gallery. |
| 15th
October 2004 | | Although
we've run with track 13 before, a slightly different layout led to some really
quick laps from the top drivers - so quick in fact, that the computer was set
at too high a minimum lap time, resulting in a number of lost laps! Once we got
that sorted out, the finals were very quick, with John and Tony battling over
the lead in the A Final, and Colin, Luke and Jamie, fighting over the B Final.
In the C Final, everyone kept changing positions, and in the second leg, Graeme,
Kevin and David were within a couple of seconds of each other all race. The D
Final was a battle between Simon, Charlie and Robert, with Simon winning both
legs to take the win. Full results from
tonight's meeting can be found HERE,
and you can check out the Round
4 Series results HERE.
Personal Transponders Don't
forget, we still have a few PT's left, which we are selling at a special price
of £50 (bbk software price £55 each) only to KMCC Members. See Colin
on a race night if you want one. |

October 2004 | | Results
from the 8th October race meeting can now be found HERE,
and you can check out the Round
3 Series results HERE.
|
| 1st
October 2004 | | The
2nd round saw more close racing, and a few odd results as car broke, and some
people forgot to put their transponders in their car - PT's avoid all of that! It's
still a bit early yet, but after two rounds, James Trostler is leading F1, with
Anthony Spooner close behind, Stuart Gates has started with maximum points, and
in F3, Daniel Mayes is also on maximum points, with Simon Phillips close behind.

and you can check out the Series
results so far HERE.

September 2004 | | Autumn
Championship Series Tonight
saw the start of the new Club Race Series, which will run from Friday 24th September,
for 12 weeks, until Friday 10th December, with your best 8 results to count towards
your final score. The format for the meetings will be the same as the Spring Series,
with 2 x 3 minute qualifiers and 2 x 5 minute finals, with points being awarded
for both qualifying position and final result. If
Round 1 was anything to go by, there is going to be lots of fast and very close
racing. Full results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE,
and you can check out the Series
results so far HERE.
Formula's
We will be using the formula's which were decided after the Spring series - check
HERE
if you want to see who is in which formula! At
the end of the series, there will be winners for each of F1, F2 and F3 as well
as an overall series champion, so everyone has a chance of a trophy. All
race meetings will be sorted basd on "ability", just as we normally
do, but your ability will now be updated after each weeks race meetings, so plenty
of incentive to get a good result! Prize
Draw New for this series,
we will be charging an extra £1 per week
for entry into a prize draw at the end of the series. You
will be given a "BLUE" raffle ticket
each week you race - make sure you keep this one safe until the end of the series.
All the money put into the prize fund
will be used to buy some excellent prizes, such as 3300 Batteries, Body Shells,
Motors, Tyres, Wheels, and whatever else we can afford! All
the prizes will be coming from ModelTech and RCMatch who are helping support the
Club. Personal
Transponders The Club has
now purchased some more PT's, and we have 10 left, which we are selling at a special
price of £50 (bbk software price £55 each) only to KMCC Members. See
Colin if you want one, or want to know more about these "plug in and forget"
items as they are likely to go fast! See
you next week for Round 2 of the Championship! |
| 17th
September 2004 | | Endurance
Fun Event Well, if you didn't come
along and take part in tonight's endurance event, you missed a fast, fun and exciting
race meeting, which hinged as much on good team work and tactics as it did on
driver skills! 19 drivers turned out,
so we created 4 teams, three of which had five drivers and one with four drivers,
all drivers being placed into teams based on their ability. The teams were:
Team
1 John Fillingham Colin Williams
Jamie Oliver Simon Williams | Team
2 Rob Oliver Stuart Gates
James Trostler Kevin Howard Charlie Ware |
Team 3
Nathan Maycock Paul Coleman Luke Byrne Daniel Mayes Brendan Hurn | Team
4 Anthony Spooner Dave Irving
Robert Hull Simon Phillips Peter Jeeves | Then
we got going with the first of the three 30 minute legs, which was very close
for the first 10minutes or so - before the driver / transponder changeovers started.
At the end of the first 30 minutes, it was clear that Team 2 had some problems
out on the track, managing to get only 120 laps, which was 32 laps down on Team
1 who were winning at the end of the first leg. After
a 10minute break to review team tactics and have a quick breather, we set off
on the second leg. Team 2 seemed to have a much better run this time, finishing
2nd on 144 laps, with only one lap between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at the end of the
30 minutes. Team 1 won the leg again though, with a tremendous 160 laps and their
lead was now a solid 22 laps over Team 4 in 2nd place. Another
10 minute break later and leg 3 got underway - by now team tactics were starting
to become a real issue, with Team 4 determined to try and make a come back, by
putting Anthony Spooner out onto track four times in the 30 minutes! Well, it
worked, and Team 4 took the win of the 3rd leg, but with only a 4 lap lead over
Team 1, it was never going to be enough to pull back the deficit from the first
two legs. At the end of the day Team
1 won the event with a total of 471 laps, with Team 4 having closed the gap slightly
taking second place with 453 laps, Team 3 in a respectable 3rd with 424 laps and
Team 2 bringing up the rear with 412 laps - which was pretty good going as at
the end of the night they only had two working cars! Well
done to all the teams and drivers, it was a great night, with some really good
driving, and excellent marshalling - and no interference with everyone on different
crystal frequencies! Full results from
the endurance event can be found HERE. |
| 10th September
2004 | | Full
results from tonight's race meeting have been added to the site and can be found
HERE. Endurance
Fun Event Next Friday, 17th September,
we will be running a fun "endurance" race before we start the Autumn
Championship Series the following week. So
what is an endurance event?
Well, it's
based very loosely on the idea of the Le Mans 24hr race, except we will be changing
over drivers and car during the race, and we will only be running for 2 hours
max! When everyone has booked in to race,
we will create a maximum of six teams, each with four drivers (although this may
depend on how many turn up on the night). These teams will then compete to see
which can do the most laps from 3 x 30minute race sessions - with each session
having a 10 minute break between to repair the track and get our breath back! There
will be a few rules (apart from the normal motor, tyres, etc.), just to try and
make the racing as fair as possible: - There
will be one transponder per team, which must be passed from driver
to driver off the track.
- Each
driver must race at least once, ideally for at least 5 minutes, in
each of the three 30minute sessions.
- At
least one team member must be marshalling at any time during the race sessions.
- Only
one driver on the rostrum at any one time.
- The
winning team will be the one with the most laps totalled from
all three sessions.
Teams will
be selected on the night, based on ability, once everyone has booked in, to try
and make the team compositions as fair as possible and give each team a realistic
chance of winning. After that, then team
tactics are up to you! Just remember
that while you are on the track, the point is not to race against the other cars
directly, but just to rack up as many laps as possible without crashing or breaking
your car. Please come along as early
as you can next week, so we can get everyone booked in and the teams sorted as
early as possible - also don't forget to bring all your crystals and plenty of
batteries. |
| 8th
September 2004 | | Full
results from 3rd September race meeting have now been added to the site and can
be found HERE. Personal
Transponders and the AMBrc system
have now been ordered and we are hoping to receive them in the next few days.
So, if you want a PT and you haven't already done so, get your name down now,
or you might just miss out on the reduced price of £50 each - remember,
this is only available to Club members.

| 27th
August 2004 | | Full
results from tonight's race meeting and those of the past two weeks have now been
added to the site and can be found HERE. For
his first time running race control, Stuart did a great job tonight - well done!
Don't forget, we will be investing in
AMBrc fairly soon and you will have the chance to buy a personal transponder at
a slightly reduced price if we buy a "job lot", so let Colin know if
you are planning to buy one when we have them, so we can get the right number. |
| 6th August
2004 | | Well
we tried out Stuart Gates' new track design design (track
15) tonight and I'm still trying to decide whether I liked it or not, but
none the less it provided some entertaining racing. Mathew
Turner had a couple of good runs to win both legs of the D final, with Kris Kilsby
a few laps behind in 2nd. In the C final, David Brown took the overall win this
week from Simon Phillips, and in the B final, Jonathan Lucas won both legs to
take the overall win. Tony Spooner had another good drive, winning both legs of
the A final, with Steve Swan close behind. Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. There
won't be any updates to the website for the next couple of weeks, but if there
is anything club members need to know, or if you simply want to discuss RC racing,
don't forget you can do at the Clubs chat forum by clicking on the "Chat
Room" button on the left. |
| 30th
July 2004 | | WOW
- amazing what a new set of tyres can do!! Tony Spooner had so much grip it's
the first time in ages I've seen a car grip roll, but it didn't stop him taking
the first leg and the overall win, even though he couldn't keep up the pace against
John in the second leg. In the B final,
HPI's dominated with Dave a lap ahead of the rest of the field, and Jonathan Lucas
in a close 2nd. The C final saw Simon Phillips and David Brown battling hard in
both legs, with Simon just taking the overall win. In the D final, Mark Philips
kept his nerve to take both legs from Simon Williams, with the latest Williams
family member - Christopher - having a good run on his first outing. Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. |
| 28th July
2004 | | One
new item added to For Sale section. |
| 23rd July
2004 | | We
raced on a track I haven't run on for a long time, and it lead to some great fun
racing as we also had only 4 drivers per heat! It was especially quick with the
new carpet, reflected in the fact that Anthony put in a 30 lap final, which was
3 laps faster than Alex's record on the old carpet from February! Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. |
| 16th July
2004 | | Some
very fast racing this week, with both Alex and John hitting 40 laps in the A final
- it's hard to keep up that level of concetration lap after lap - well done guys.
The D finalists received a round of applause with two of our youngest drivers
battling for the lead for the entire 5 minutes, ending in a first place or each
of them. Full results from tonight's
race meeting can be found HERE. Several
members have now started saving towards new Personal
Transponders and if anyone wants to start putting away a few quid each
week, let Colin know. |
| 11th
July 2004 | | Personal
Transponders! The next big
investment planned for the Club is to replace the lap counting hardware we use,
as the transponders become increasingly unreliable. We will be buying AMBrc equipment
later this year (probably around October depending on funds), which will mean
that everyone can use personal transponders instead of the normal handout transponders
if you have one. Of course the downside
is that PT's cost around £50 each, but to help spread the cost we have started
a "PT Saving Club" so that members can pay as much as they want to,
when they want to and the Club will hold their money until we are ready to purchase. To
find out more, click HERE
or talk to Colin on a Club night. |
| 9th
July 2004 | | Another
weeks fun racing, and full results from tonight's race meeting can be found
HERE. Truck
National News Unfortunately
we have had to pull out of running the Truck National round which was due to be
held on August 1st, and this round will now be held at Coventry. There are a number
of reasons why we have made this decision and it is dissapointing, but overal,
we believe it was the only realistic option for the Club at this time. |
| 2nd July
2004 | | What
was going on tonight with the placings for the finals - I just don't know! We
had an F1 in the C final, and an F2 in the A Final - well done Jamie, where did
that extra speed come from? There were
also a few new drivers at tonight's meeting - we hope you enjoyed yourselves whether
watching or racing. Full results from
tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. |
| 30th June
2004 | | Two
new items added to For Sale section. |
| 26th June
2004 | | A
bit of a delay putting up the results from last week I'm afraid, but here they
are now, along with this weeks results. Full
results from tonight's and last weeks race meetings can be found HERE. Outdoor
Racing As not enough club
members have expressed an interest in the outdoor racing on 4th July, this meeting
will now be cancelled. Don't forget, we will still be running Round 6 of the BRCA
Off Road Truck Nationals scheduled for 1st August, which should be great event
with 1/10th Trucks as well as Monster Truck racing. We will also run 1/10th Buggies
so Club members can take part if you want to. |
| 13th
June 2004 | | New
Item added to For Sale section. |
| 11th June
2004 | | We
tried one of the older tracks tonight (track
7), and I really think it showed the difference between running on a tighter
track and the more flowing ones we have designed recently - it was certainly harder
to get a good line around the track! Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. Outdoor
Racing Last Sunday should
have seen the start of the outdoor programme of races - BUT as only three
people turned up to race, the meeting was cancelled. We really need at least 10
drivers to take part in order to keep the off-road track viable so unless enough
of you tell us by NEXT FRIDAY that you will definately be able to make
the next meeting on the 4th July, that will be cancelled as well. It's a shame
- but if you don't want Offroad racing - there's no point in trying to organise
meetings! We
will still run Round 6 of the BRCA Off Road Truck Nationals scheduled for 1st
August, which should be great event with 1/10th Trucks as well as Monster Truck
racing. We will also run 1/10th Buggies so Club members can take part if you want
to.
For More details on outdoor racing,
click on the "Outdoor" link on the left of this page. |
| 4th June
2004 | | Congratulations
to all the winners of the Spring Series - who were awarded their trophies tonight.
We will have a break from competition racing for now, but plan to run an Autumn
/ Winter Series starting in October - so get practicing!
Tonight's
racing used the same format of 2x3min qualifiers and 2x5min finals, that we have
been using for the Series and the results can be found HERE. |
| 2nd June
2004 | | Don't
forget the first Outdoor race meeting of the year is Sunday, 6th June, track set-up
starts at 8am, with booking in at 9am. Bring
your Buggy or Truck and get some air on the jumps! Directions
to the track can be found on the Outdoor page. |
| 31st May
2004 | | Based
on the results of the Spring Series, Club Members formula ratings have now been
re-assigned and can be found HERE. |
| 28th May
2004 | | Well
the excitement's all over now, and the Spring Series has finished, to give us
our winners in each of the formulas. It's been a close run thing for some of the
positions, but even better than that, there has been plenty of friendly rivalry
out on the track - which is what makes our race meetings such fun! So,
who won then - well here are the top positions, each of which will recieve a trophy
next week (if the engraved plaques arrive in time!)

2004 | | From
HERO to ZERO, with one simple mistake - that's how close some of the racing is
now in Stock class! Everyone has just got beter and better as the current race
series has progressed, and it is now very close in all the finals with only a
couple of laps separating the drivers. Tonight's
racing saw some very close racing in all the finals and the results from tonight's
race meeting can be found HERE. Just
one more week to go now in the Spring Race Series
and it is absolutely neck and neck for the overall winner between John and Alex,
but it looks like John may just take the F1 win. It looks like Rob Oliver has
F2 sewn up with Adrian Heslop 2nd and David Seamark can't be beaten now in F3,
but Nik Randall, Nick Burnham and David Brown are all in with a chance for 2nd/3rd.
Check out the series results HERE.

May 2004 | | Even
after driving r/c cars for a couple of years, I still find it really exciting
to watch other drivers racing each other in the finals - and then coming off the
rostrum and congratulating each other on a great race! Well we saw some of that
last night with some really well fought battles. The full results from tonight's
race meeting can be found HERE. There
is only two rounds left now of the Spring Race Series,
so who do you think is going to win each of the formulas?
It's pretty close at the top of F1 with Alex and
John looking set to slug it out to the very last round although Nathan is still
in with an outside chance! F2 is another
close run thing, with Rob and Adrian only one point apart and James closing the
gap all the time - can he make up the points in time? F3
looks to be more sorted though and David Seamark can't really be caught now unless
David Brown gets some big wins in the last two rounds. Results
for the series can be found HERE.

May 2004 | | One
or two people tried different tyres tonight, but T27's still seemed to give the
edge, as Alex romped home to win both legs of the A final from Anthony Spooner.
There was plenty of close racing in all the finals, and full results from tonight's
race meeting can be found HERE. Positions
in the Spring Race Series are now starting
to sort themselves out, and you can check out the series results HERE.

April 2004 | | New
Carpet throughout the hall was fantastic and resulted in lap times
at least one second faster than the last time we used track 13, which means all
previous track records now mean nothing - and Alex Taylor laid down a 41 lap challenge!
Full results from tonight's race meeting
can be found HERE. We
are now two thirds of the way through the Spring Race
Series and we will start to see who really leads the groups as everyone
begins to reach their eight rounds. Nathan Maycock currently leads overall - but
that could all change as Alex and John Fillingham reach 8 results! Check out the
series results HERE.

April 2004 | | WOW!
There was a phenomenal amount of grip tonight as we tried out some new carpet
on half the track - with the overwhelming reaction - when can we have more to
do the whole track? Well, from next week,
we hope to have enough delivered to do the whole hall - I can't wait! Racing
was fast and furious again tonight as Alex Taylor and Paul Upton battled it out
in the A final, with Paul finally taking the overall win. In the B final, Nathan
Maycock took the overall win with two consistent 2nd places, and in the C final,
Colin Williams took the overall win. The D final was won by David Seamark this
week after taking 1st in both legs, and Simon Williams won the E final after some
close battles with Mike Stonell. Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. Positions
after Round 7 of the Spring Race Series can
be found HERE.

April 2004 | | There
was a "full house" tonight as 31 drivers turned out to race, which meant
a busy evening for Dave on Race Control, but also plenty of action on the track!
Paul Upton took 1st in the A final from Adrian Heslop, while Nathan Maycock and
Anthony Spooner fought it out in the B final after difficulties in qualifying.
David Brown took a clean sweep in the C final, while Nik Burnham won the D final
and Mark Phillips took another clean sweep in the E final. Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. Positions
after Round 6 of the Spring Race Series can
be found HERE.
Tyres Just
a point about tyres on Club nights. Treaded rubber tyres are preferred, although
one or two people are trying out slicks at the moment. The Committee will shortly
be discussing whether a control tyre should be used or not. In the meantime, the
following are definitely not allowed: - mini-pins
- rally
blocks
- foams
- any
tyre additive

April 2004 | | We
saw some fast racing tonight with John and Alex swapping 1st and 2nd place every
few laps, with both James Trostler and Adrian Heslop hot on their heels! The final
score saw Alex wining on tie break, with John in second and Adrian third in the
A final. The B final was also hotly contested, with Rob Oliver having a brilliant
second round, but not good enough to win overall. Stuart Gates took the overall
win, chased closely by Dave Irving. The C final was won overall by David Brown,
without having taken a win in either leg, but his consistent 2nd and 3rd places
saw him take the win from David Seamark in second and Paul Diver in 3rd. The D
final saw some amazing consistency in results, with each driver coming the same
in both legs 1 and 2. Overall, the win was taken by Richard Bland, after problems
in qualifying, and second was held by Luke Byrne, over Simon Williams in third. Full
results from tonight's race meeting will be posted shortly. Don't
forget, no racing next week on
Friday 9th April, and we will be back to normal the following week
(16th April). |

March 2004 | | Well,
we're now a third of the way through the Spring Series, and you can start to see
who's heading up each of the formula's - although there is still plenty of time
for that to change! The fact that we are at this point also means that we have
now run all of the tracks once, so next week, we will start with the same track
we ran in round 1. Positions after Round
4 of the Spring Race Series can be found HERE. Tonight's
racing was fast and furious on a new track which wasn't to everyone's taste, but
it certainly gave a challenge. Unfortunately a glitch with the computer delayed
us a bit, but thanks to everyone's help we were packed away quickly - it means
a lot when people help to set out and pack away the track. Full
results from tonight's race meeting can be found HERE. Just
a note that while we will be racing next week (2nd April), there will NOT
be a race meeting on Friday 9th April, as this is Good
Friday. We will then be back to normal the following week (16th April). |

have now added a simple calculator to help you work out the overall gear ratio
of your car. All you need to know are the number of teeth on your spur and pinion

March 2004 | | Well,
it all came together tonight and even with 27 drivers, we ran the meeting with
two 3 minute qualifiers and two 5 minute finals, and we're out of the hall by
10pm. With so many new drivers joining the Club, there are too many to name -
but welcome to you all - hope you're enjoying the racing! There
was plenty of exciting racing to watch tonight, with John and Alex trading 1st
and 2nd place in each leg of the A final, with John just taking the overall win
in the end. In the other finals, Rob Oliver took the overall B final from Stuart
Gates; Steve Ware held off Nik Randall to clinch the C final; Chris Thomas took
a clean win in the D final; and Colin Henwood took the win in the E final - although
most drivers only managed to complete one round of the E final before breakage's
took their toll! Full results from tonight's
race meeting can be found HERE. Positions
after Round 3 of the Spring Race Series can
be found HERE.
We now have a bell which will put next to the
door each week, so when you arrive, use the bell and someone will come and let
you in! Round 4 next week, which will
see the end of "part 1" after which, we will rotate back to the track
we ran in Round 1, so we will run each of four tracks three times by the end of
the series. Good luck to everyone! |

March 2004 | | Results
from last Friday's race meting have now been added and
can be found here. Positions
in the Spring Race Series can be found here. Unfortunately,
due to a theft, we have been advised by the William Knibb Centre that we must
keep the outside door closed at all times. Failure to do this will result in warnings
and us losing the venue! So that's how
important this is! We are trying to find a cordless bell that will work in the
hall but we are struggling at the moment. As was done last week, we will stick
a notice on the door with a mobile number, just give it a ring and someone will
come and let you in. We'll also try and check from time to time that no-one is
stuck outside! |
| 5th
March 2004 | | Tonight's
race meting was attended by the highest number of drivers we've had at the William
Knibb Centre, which created some great racing - especially in the B final, with
4 drivers chasing each other for the whole 5 minutes on the same lap! Tonight's
results can be found here. Positions
in the Spring Race Series can be found here. Sadly,
with so many drivers - a number of whom were new and took longer to book in than
we anticipated, and by not running the meeting fully on automatic, this brought
difficulties in keeping the meeting to time and we ended up having to cancel the
second leg of the finals. This is not what we want to do and therefore we will
start to tighten up on the running times of the meetings to avoid having to cancel
any part of the meeting in the future. In
future, we will aim to keep to the following: - Drivers
to be booked in by 7.20pm
- First heat
to be on the track ready to start at 7.30pm
- There
will be 2 minutes between heats, and the next heat must be on the line and ready
to run after that time. The computer will not normally be paused unless the race
controller feels there is sufficient time. Drivers who cannot make it to the start
line on time will have to start part way through the heat, or forfeit that round.
- Drivers
must return their transponders and marshall the heat after they race. They must
be out around the track before the start of the next heat. Marshalls who are not
in place will be penalised by removal of their FTD.
None
of these things are new, we just need to tighten up a bit. This
way, everyone benefits and we all get the most race time on the track! |

2004 | | The
Club Handbook and Constitution has been added as a link in the "Club"
page. Paper copies of this will be handed out with your BRCA membership cards
from this Friday. |

February 2004 | | Another
new track design to try out tonight - as we set up "track 10" to try
and recreate the track some Club members raced at Cambridge last Sunday. We also
moved the rostrum to the "long side" of the track, which may have given
slightly less visibility, but certainly didn't spoil the racing - in fact it made
the track feel better to race on.
Overall,
this latest design felt more "flowing", and we now hope to make up some
more corner pieces so we can have more radiused corners and work on some more
designs. Several other possible track designs are shown below:

OK, so down to the results! Well, John
Fillingham had a cracking race, to win the A final on 30 laps, but he was only
1 lap ahead of Anthony Spooner. n the B final, Staurt Gates won on 26 laps, just
1 lap ahead of Dave Irving and Steve Ware, who had a great race. In the C final,
Richard Evans just managed to squeeze in an extra lap, to beat David Seamark into
2nd place. Full results for tonight
can be found in the Results section. Spring
Race Series Don't forget,
the new series starts 5th March (next week!!), and will run for 12 weeks, with
the best 8 results to count. Everyone's
been allocated into a Formula, either F1, F2 or F3 for Club racers, and F4 for
guest drivers, so you can see how you are doing against drivers of similar ability
as well as your overall position. A full listing of Formula ratings for this series
can be found here. Don't
forget, the formula's are only meant to be a bit of fun - if your not happy with
where you are placed - let us know. |

February 2004 | | Well,
for me at least tonight's "track
7" designed by Richard Bland was a great track as I managed to qualify
for pole in the B final! Of course that was where all my problems started, in
my excitement at starting at the front, when the "warble" sounded I
turned right and stuffed it into the barrier! Then after recovering from that,
and getting back to third, I realised I didn't have a transponder in the car -
so that cost a couple of laps before I was put in manually. Oh well there's always
next week! In the D final, Nick Burnham
had a close race with Chris Thomas to take the win, while in the C final Rob Oliver
took the win (Oops not supposed to mention he didn't make the B final!) from Mark
Clayton. James Trostler improved on his qualifying times to win the B final ahead
of Richard Bland, and Alex Taylor had one of the closest runs yet with Paul Upton
to win the A final, only 0.3s separating them! Full
results for tonight can be found in the Results section. Club
Stickers For
those who didn't see them tonight, we now have some windscreen stickers with the
club website address on them, made for us by A.B. Signs & Graphics. You can

Kettering Krew set to Konquer Kambridge
Before
the e-mail's come flooding in, I know it's spelt wrongly! For
those of you who don't already know, a kontingent - OK, that's enough with the
"K" thing! - a contingent of drivers are planning to take part in an
open meeting at Cambridge RC Circuit Car Club on Sunday 22nd February. This is
a cross club race meeting, just for fun, to see how they compare against other
clubs stock drivers. So far, the following
drivers have registered to go: Stuart
Gates James Trostler Richard Bland Dave Irving Paul Upton
Colin Williams You can find
out more about this race meeting on RC Racechat by clicking here,
or on the CRCCCC website here. As
part of this, we have ordered some bodyshell stickers with the club website address
on them - they will be available for anyone to put across their windscreen sun
visor (or anywhere else) from next Friday, priced £1.50 each. Get yours
and be part of the team! |
| 13th
February 2004 | | More
new racers joined us this week, so welcome to the Club. We also had a few guest
drivers from Silverstone, including Phil Degavino, who had some very close heats
with Alex Taylor, but Phil won the A Final from Alex by 1 lap in the end. In
the B Final, racing was very close, but Stuart Gates took the win just 1 second
ahead of Dave Irving. In the C Final, Marcus Trofimov beat Colin Williams by 1
lap and in the D final, Darren Parris won with a 3 lap gap over Nik Burnham. Full
results for tonight can be found in the Results section. Spring
Race Series You might notice
that in the results for this week, most people have been allocated into a Formula
(Form), either F1, F2 or F3 for Club racers, and F4 for guest drivers. This is
so that during the next series, not only will you be able to see your overall
standing, but also how you compare to racers in your Formula of a similar ability. The
new series starts 5th March, and will run for 12 weeks, with the best 8 results
to count. We will probably be running
the series with 2 x 3 min qualifiers and 2 x 5 minute finals - less qualifying
and more racing! |

2004 | | We
saw a few new drivers at tonight's meeting - we hope you enjoyed your evenings
racing, so welcome to Nik Randall and Charlie Ware - hope to see you again next
week! Well, there was a lot of "controversy"
over track 5 when we raced it two
weeks ago, and after discussion on RC
Racechat a modification was agreed to the "Trostler Gate(s)" to
make it less of a car breaker. So how did it race this week? Clearly the changes
made had a big reduction in the amount of damage inflicted (none at all from what
I saw!) - but was it still fun to drive? Certainly
from looking at the lap times of some of the top drivers, it hardly slowed them
at all - but for us mere mortals, it was definitely a challenge. Alex
had mixed fortunes this week, but in the Final, John Fillingham beat Alex to the
line by just under a second, with only 2/100's of a second separating their average
lap times. In the B final, Dave Irving took the win, but after a dreadful start
from pole, which left him in last position, Rob Oliver fought his way back to
2nd place - who said you can't make a come back in stock racing! In the C final,
Tyler Liggins took the win on an excellent 26 laps, four laps ahead of Greg Farnden.
Full results for tonight can be found
in the Results section. |

January 2004 | | Another
new track layout tonight - this one designed by Matt Upson, brought a few challenges,
but was a good track to run on once you had sorted the line. So, this new track
layout has now been adopted as "Track
6 ". The new track led to some
very close racing in the A final, with three drivers on the same lap - but John
Fillingham just squeezed in ahead of Alex and takes the track record for this
new track. In the B final, Stuart Gates
just held off Adrian Heslop to take the win, and in the C final, Tyler Liggins
was 3 laps clear at the end of the race. Unfortunately,
Harriet Eames, Colin Henwood and Garry Starks didn't make it as far as the final
this week! Full results for tonight
can be found in the Results section. |

January 2004 | | It
was nice to see a couple of new Club members tonight, so welcome to Harriet and
to Chris, we hope you enjoyed your first evening and will be back for many more! Well
the general consensus was to try out Stuart Gates and James Trostler's new track
design and it certainly proved to be very different to our usual layouts. It was
a fast track, with many drivers below the 10second lap, and the "sweeper"
was quite a challenge to get the line right. A bit more controversially, the "Trostler
Gate" was unforgiving if you tried to go through it flat out and didn't judge
it right - reflected by the number of broken wishbones! We'll sort that out for
next time we use it. So, this new track layout has now been adopted as "Track
5". Alex Taylor has set the
record for this new track, with a blistering 35 laps, and fastest lap time of
8.16 seconds! Full results for tonight
can be found in the Results section. |
| 16th January
2004 | Another
track record fell this evening, as Alex broke his own record for track 1 from
November, to hit 29 laps - how long will it be now before we see a 30 lapper!
Second in the A final was Anthony Spooner,
with Nathan close behind in 3rd. In the B final, Rob Oliver took the win with
a 3 lap lead over Colin Williams in 2nd place and Richard Bland close behind in
3rd. Darren Parris took a comfortable win in the C final with Robert Hull in 2nd
and Tyler Liggins in 3rd. Full results
for tonight can be found in the Results section. |

2004 | AGM
Highlights The minutes aren't
produced yet, but here are the headlines from the AGM - as I remember them! Garry,
Angie and Simon all stepped down from the committee and didn't want to be re-elected.
Everyone said a big thank you to all the committee members - and especially Garry
for all his hard work over the past years. A
new committee was elected as follows:
Chairman - Dave Irving Vice Chairman
/ Publicity- Adrian Heslop Secretary - Wayne Spooner Treasurer / Web Master
/ Health & Safety - Colin Williams General
Committee Members volunteered their services: James Trostler - Junior Representative
Gary Butterworth Paul Oliver Jamie Oliver
Angie as outgoing treasurer made a report, and
even though numbers have been down the Bank Account is still healthy (if you want
to see a copy of the report, ask me on a Club night). There
was a lot of discussion about the name of the Club - eventually the agreement
was that we should change our name to Kettering Model Car Club and we should have
a formal constitution. It will take sometime to change the name on everything
- but we will start from now - see top of page! Race
night was discussed, and Wednesday would be preferred day, so we will look into
this. As soon as the full minutes are
produced, they will be published on here! |
| 9th
January 2004 | Well
Alex claimed he was taking it easy this evening - maybe he should do that more
often, as he broke the track record set by John Fillingham in November, by just
over a second to win the A final! Adrian took second place, with Steve Swan
in third. Stuart Gates had a great first outing for his new Mission, getting into
the A final and it was only interference problems which stopped him getting a
better result. In the B final, Rob Oliver
took the win from James, who slowed to give Dave a push over the line - remember
it's never over 'till the fat lady sings! Jamie Oliver had a good run in the C
final to take 1st place, with Greg Farnden not far behind. Full
results for tonight can be found in the Results section.
Don't forget,
the AGM will be held on Wednesday
14th January, 8pm at the Leather
Craftsman Public House, St Stevens Road, Kettering (click on the link for
a map).
This is an important meeting, because we need to elect a new committee and all
members are invited to attend. |
